Is there a way to see what UIS online learning looks like before I register?
Yes, just click on the School Tour which displays various aspects of learning at UIS. Please note that the display version is not interactive but is presented to provide a preview of how content is displayed, how school classes work and how course tools are utilized.

How do I register?
To enroll in any of the school classes (Grade 4 to Grade 12), go to enrollment and fill in the School Admisson online or PDF application form, to enroll in an exam preparation course go to enrollment and fill in the Exam Preparation online or PDF application form, to take private tuition lessons go to registration and fill in the Registration online or PDF application form.

How do online classes work? Do I have to be online at a certain time?
You only need to be available online at specific times during the collaboration classes but you are usually given the option to choose a suitable time. Otherwise, you can study online whenever you like. Courses are available over the internet 24/7. You decide when you are best able to work and from where. Work can be completed from any place with an internet-connected computer. Class discussion comments can also be left at any time in the class discussion area.

What if I don’t know how to use the learning platform?
You will be given an orientation course before you start the course to ensure you are familiar with the learning platform and able to use it effectively. The orientation course also provides details on how to get further help.

About how many hours a week do I need to spend on a course?
It really depends on the course but overall, expect to spend as much time online as you would in a traditional school.

How do I for my courses?
Invoices are sent out on enrollment or registration together with methods of payment and payment schedule.

What skills do I need to succeed in online classes?
Students need to have adequate keyboard skills as well as experience in using email and a web browser. Good communication skills and self-motivation are also important.

Will I need any textbooks or other materials with my online course?
Some UIS courses require textbooks, but most don’t. All necessary instructional material will be provided online. All UIS full-time Grade 4 to Grade 12 students have online access to the Library for the duration of their studies. Exam preparation courses students are not given access to the school library.

Do I have to study online on my own?
You are never alone at UIS. Although you will have more responsibility for time management than you would in a traditional course, UIS offers interactivity between students, counselors and teachers and encourages sharing and collaboration.
